Peace+Productivity=

Adam Kayce wrote in an comment to my last post, "I'm also curious, if you want to get in a conversation about it, what approach(es) you're trying around the productivity/peace question?"

Using my life planner, created from the these questions from my book, and the check-in process...

Noticing my thoughts and putting down the struggle to make things different than they are in this moment... in other words, getting free from the need to change or fix anything; instead embrace, embrace, embrace

Beginning to rethink how I'm running and focusing (or not) my business; Trying out the idea of focusing more on one day workshops and keynotes than my longer retreats, both to be more available to my family because my husband is traveling more now and because I've realized I want to work for short intense chunks and then relax, play, create for fun (art and fiction); speaking two or three times a month, and running the web business with a more focused intent (yet to emerged completely) could allow this to happen. I will need to get more help and get better at communicating.

Adam and others - thoughts??

i think it is important to know ourselves and this statment, i think, reflects that.

also we change and our needs and priorities change... so often, our life asks adjustments of us for these.

For me, I think when I see the bits of my business as separate, then it can all seem like a bit too much. But, when I start to imagine how the different parts of my business feed into each other, then it somehow becomes easier- and efforts I'm making are multiplied- so I don't have to do as much.

I got this insight as a paramedic, when one of the tests we had was to find at least two uses (preferably more) for everything in the aid kit.

Seen from a more holistic perspective, just understanding how one thing feeds into another helps me avoid feeling as if I'm just tackling a mountain of to-dos... I don't know if I'm being clear about this...

Hey Mark, I think you're being clear... I read a post on productivity the other day where a guy talked about organizing his life into "roles" — the various roles he plays in his life, like "entrepreneur", "father", "community theatre director", etc.

It sounded interesting, but too splintering to me.

And Jennifer, when you talk about the simplification and focus you're bringing into your work (and how it looks), I know I breathe a sigh of relief. It sounds to me as if you're getting clearer and clearer about what matters most to you, and how you want to share your time, energy, and caring with the people in your life (no matter what degree of closeness you share with them, from family to readers).

"Tres Monkish," if I say so myself. :-)
